FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

CENTRAL WASHINGTON, 2026: Kathleen Miles grew up the seventh child on a farm in Britton, South Dakota, spending her days playing card games, climbing trees, and watching clouds from the porch while her older siblings handled the farm work. Eight decades later, she has published her first book of poetry.

Miles married at nineteen and spent fifty-two years with her husband before he died in 2017. She now lives in central Washington with her partner and their two dogs, surrounded by a married daughter, a grown grandson, and a teenage granddaughter.

Her debut collection, Miles of Smiles, was released in late 2025, followed by Miles of Wonder, a collection that turns toward aging, loss, and hardship alongside moments of humor, and Miles of Giggles, aimed at readers looking for something lighter.

“Being in my early 80s, most of my life has been lived in the past,” Miles said. “I, however, am eager to see what comes next. I’m privileged to be able to send these little gift poems out into the world and happy to have readers share and enjoy them.”

Miles began writing later in life, after decades of marriage, raising a family, and the loss of her husband. Her poems draw directly on that history, offering a plainspoken, lived-in perspective rather than a polished or academic one.

Her books are available through Amazon and are listed on Goodreads, Open Library, and LibraryThing. More information, including her full biography, is available at kathleenmiles.com.
